Forget about the cod when there are so many haddock around. It was a slow morning, but a move or two put us on non-stop haddock with drop and reel fishing with all nice size fish in addition to plenty of market and some large cod that we will see again opening day on April 16th. As soon as you where on the bottom you were on…with a double if you waited another second and not another boat in sight.
Plenty of fillets were taken home. Not sure why we can book almost every day of the spring for cod charters, but we only get a few bookings for haddock in the early season. Something to think about next year for some early season fishing and some great eats. Haddock are plentiful in the early season.
